About
Yandilla Camping And Farm Stay occupies a property with a long history, originally established as the Kilcoy Run sheep station in 1841. The Yandilla farm itself was first selected in 1902, with initial production focused on dairy farming, pigs and small crops. In recent years, the property has been used for beef production, a practice that continues under the current management.
The camping facilities were established and completed in 2005. The property is managed with a strong emphasis on sound environmental values, incorporating aspects of natural sequence farming. Ongoing riparian revegetation projects are conducted with SEQ Catchments, and extensive tree plantings and shelterbelts have been established through Greening Australia projects. The farm has participated in the Land for Wildlife programme since its inception in the old Kilcoy Shire and was included in Open Day activities marking the programme's tenth anniversary.
The approval of the camping facilities attracted interest from bird watching groups in Brisbane. Birds Queensland and the Queensland Naturalists Club Inc have conducted excursions at the farm, compiling a bird list of over 160 species.
