About
Tarndwarncoort (Tarndie) is one of Victoria's oldest surviving homesteads and one of Australia's oldest family sheep farms, operated by the Dennis family since 1840. The farm name is based on the ancient Gulidjan language. The family still grows wool, maintaining a specialised flock of black and coloured Polwarth sheep, with wool from the original flock treasured by crafters worldwide.
Tarndie Polwarth Wool is grown, harvested, and spun by local businesses under an ethical business model for sustainability. The farm offers accommodation in The Stables Studio, a converted 1905 stable, and The Farmers Cottage, a 1940s workers cottage. Visitors can attend workshops, learn to spin lessons, and the International Back to Back Wool Challenge, with group visits available. The farm has a farm shop and online shop.
