About
Plummers Pick Your Own in the Adelaide Hills is a cracking spot for a day out, especially if you're keen to grab some fresh fruit straight from the tree. This family's been growing here for 120 years, with Ian Plummer and his son Gavin being the fourth generation to work the land. They've got a huge 80 hectares dedicated to apples and another 4 hectares for cherries, so there's always heaps to pick. Come apple season, usually around March, you can wander through the orchards and fill your bags with different varieties like Mi Apple and Gala. When early December rolls around, it's cherry time, with loads of Bing, Summit, Lapins, Van, Simone, Sir Hans, Stella, and Sir Douglas cherries ripe for the picking. They make it easy too, with parking close to the fruit trees and mowed rows so you're not trudging through weeds. You can even bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn, let the kids play games or meet the farm animals, and even sit on the tractors. It's a proper farm experience, old school style. They're at 1358 Lobethal Road in Forest Range, not far from Adelaide, and the views across the hills are pretty special while you're there.
