Platypus Pools

Platypus Pools is a private riverside campsite located on the Karuah River in the Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain stream from the Barrington Tops foothills, typically clear and ideal for swimming, canoeing, floating, fishing and photography. The campsite offers complete privacy with no nearby campers.

Visitors can see a variety of birdlife and wildlife, including black and white cockatoos, ducks, lizards, wallabies, echidnas and frequent platypus sightings. There are opportunities for bike riding and walking on gravel roads around the valley, and it is a 25-minute drive to the Dungog mountain bike park and scenic trails. The accommodation actively welcomes people with access needs and caters for people who use a wheelchair.
