About
Hillside Camp on Bow River is a remote 2000-acre working cattle property located 23km west of Merriwa, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. It offers a farm solitude camping experience across 19 sites, featuring miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the Bow River. The river winds 7kms down to the Goulburn River through the park, with rock pools and sandstone cliffs.
All campsites are pet friendly, with pets required to be leashed, and campfires are permitted when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available for $20 cash. The property requires careful vehicle access; 4WD and high-clearance vehicles are recommended due to rocky outcrops and loose sand, with the Bow River area strictly 4WD low-range only. Guests are advised to lower tyre pressure to 25psi. All sites have toilets, but guests must provide their own shower facilities and take all waste with them upon departure.
Phone service is very limited. No motorbikes, chainsaws, or hunting are allowed. The area features cliff edges, sheer drops and dams, requiring children to be supervised at all times. The host, David, is a Star Host. Note that the National Park conducts an annual wild dog baiting program from 19th April to 31st October, with baits laid approximately 1km from the property boundary.
