About
Highfield Farm & Woodland, just off the Hume Highway near Adelong in the Riverina Highlands, offers a cracking eco-luxury farm stay experience at Kestrel Nest EcoHut. It’s a proper off-grid escape, letting you switch off and soak up the natural beauty of the rolling farmland, amazing views, and a rocky mountain stream. Owners Louise and David are big on ethical and sustainable farming, and they're doing a heap to look after critically endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland habitats. You can even join them for a "Farming with Habitat" tour or a "Bird Watching" tour to see their work firsthand. Most guests reckon it’s a top spot to reconnect with nature, with all the comforts of home. Warren Harrington, who travelled 11,000km, called it a "standout destination", and Carmela Chivers said it was "perfect" for a special weekend. The EcoHut itself has heaps of thoughtful touches, like fresh eggs and warm bread for brekkie, and the big outdoor bath gets a mention too. They'll even plant native plants for every booking to offset travel emissions, which is pretty neat. It's just an hour from Wagga Wagga and a handy stop if you're driving between Sydney and Melbourne, making it an easy-to-get-to spot for a peaceful and educational farm experience. You won't find Wi-Fi or mobile reception here, so you can really unplug and enjoy the bush without distractions.
