Hidden Valley Farms is a working farm in regional New South Wales, offering stays in charming cottages and cabins. It's a cracking spot to get away from the city, slow down and breathe in that fresh country air. You can spend your days wandering through hundreds of olive trees, some of which are ancient and predate Christ, or explore the oak forest with Banjo, their truffle-hunting Kelpie. They run special events for olive picking, which is a real social occasion, just like it is in the Mediterranean where the owners' family comes from. If you're there at the right time of year, you might even get to join a truffle hunt and unearth one of those incredible French Black Truffles yourself. Imagine the smell of it, straight from the earth. When you're not out and about on the farm, you can relax by the Wollondilly River, watch for kangaroos, or just sit on the verandah and soak up the peace and quiet. They've put a lot of love into bringing this 100-year-old farm back to life over the last 25 years. It used to be a thriving orchard, sending apples, pears, and quince to Sydney markets by train. Now, they're growing heaps of produce right there on the farm for you to enjoy. They've got fresh garlic, olive oil, and vinegar, all sorts of seasonal fruit and veg, gourmet salt, and even wild honey.
