About
Head out to Hale River Homestead at Old Ambalindum for a real taste of the Red Centre, about 115km northeast of Alice Springs. It's a proper station stay right in the heart of the East MacDonnell Ranges, sitting pretty on the Binns Track. You can kick back in a few ways, whether you're roughing it under the stars at the grassed campsite, complete with fire pits and hot showers, or settling into one of the five self-contained spots. There's The Cottage, The Gen Shed, The Retro Van and Container, The Horse Yards, or The Bunkhouse, each with a bit of history to it. Lots of folks reckon it's a great break from bush camping, with one family from the Netherlands loving their stay in The Cottage and raving about feeding calves and gem hunting with Dave. Another couple from Drummoyne loved the cottage too and found Mount George with Dave to be a highlight.Grab a feed at "The Workshop", a renovated Sydney Williams shed, where they do meals, snacks, cakes, and drinks. They can even handle bigger groups for events or parties. It's a top spot for exploring the East MacDonnell Ranges, soaking up that stunning Outback scenery, or just enjoying some peace and quiet. The grounds are kept immaculate and you
