About
Cheela Plains Station is a family owned and managed working cattle station in the Pilbara region. It serves as a welcome stop for travellers between Ningaloo Reef and Karijini National Park on the Nanutarra-Munjina Road. The station is open to tourists seasonally from 1st April to 7th October 2026, with corporate accommodation available year-round.
Accommodation options include comfortable rooms, powered campground sites, and secluded wilderness camping, with the Station Campground situated 1km off the main highway and accessible by 2-wheel drive vehicles. The Red Plains Café is open daily for barista coffee, renowned carrot cake, and snacks. A contemporary two-course menu is served every evening, except on Sundays when campfire burgers are offered.
The station spans the Beasley River Gorge with ancient rock formations and hosts events such as the 'Space Safari' for astrophotography. The pastoral lease encompasses four indigenous language groups: Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura, Yinhawangka, Bunjima and Jurruru.
