About
Camp Creek Retreat is located in Running Creek, Queensland, within the Scenic Rim area just north of the NSW border. The 200-acre property features grassed valleys and forested hills, and was originally selected by William Dimmock in 1895, operating as a dairy farm and later growing market garden crops. It now supports up to 40 head of breeding cattle and two retired horses.
The retreat offers five well-separated camping sites for RV and tent camping, suitable for bush walking, bird watching, star gazing or relaxing. The property is near Mt Chinghee National Park, part of the Gondwana Rainforests World Heritage Site. Many native animals including wallabies, possums, echidnas, goannas, bandicoots, dingos, koalas and various birds and frogs have been spotted. Host Heather is a Star Host, indicating high ratings and responsiveness. Campfires are permitted in provided fire pits subject to restrictions, and pets are welcome but must be supervised and contained at night. Guests must have their own toilet/shower facilities and take all waste with them; a clean-up fine applies for waste dug into the ground. The Scenic Rim area offers local wineries, restaurants and Mt Tamborine within an hour's drive, and the Gold Coast is 1.5 hours away.
