About
Brickendon Estate is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, jointly listed with Woolmers Estate since July 2010. It is one of Tasmania's oldest farming properties, settled in 1824 by William Archer, and has been continuously operated by the Archer family for over 200 years, now in its seventh generation. The estate features an 1820s Farm Village with a chapel, blacksmith's shop, cookhouse, and timber barns, alongside Heritage Gardens open to explore.
Day visitors can access the Historic Farm Village and Heritage Gardens, with seasonal opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday. Accommodation guests have unlimited access to these areas and can stay in convict-built historic cottages or rustic recycled farm cottages. The estate serves as a venue for weddings, social events, and conferences, and offers group tours, a Convict Farm Walk connecting to Woolmers, daily animal feeding, and educational programs for school groups. The property acknowledges the Panninher people of the North Midlands nation as the traditional custodians of the land.
