About
I reckon the Yarra Valley Regional Farmers Market is a top spot to grab some ripper local produce. It's been going strong since March 1998, making it Victoria's longest-running monthly market. You'll find it at Punt Road Winery in Coldstream on the third Sunday of every month, kicking off at 9 am and wrapping up by 1:30 pm. It's a cracking atmosphere, full of chatter and amazing smells, and there's always a good spread of goodies. You can load up on fresh seasonal fruit and veggies, and there are heaps of other treats like artisanal biscuits, freshly ground coffee and beans, interesting jams, preserves and sauces, local honey, and delicious chocolates. Don't forget the fruit vinegars, locally baked bread, and free-range eggs. They even have herbs, spices, and fresh local meats. It's a fair dinkum visual feast, and it's all about buying direct from the grower, so you know exactly where your food's come from, with no worries about massive "food miles". Plus, entry and parking are free, which is always a bonus. As one family from Melbourne said, it's "Such a great day out... Wonderful food and wow what a beautiful location. We love it!" It's a fantastic way to spend a Sunday, support local producers, and snag some seriously fresh tucker.
