About
The Violet Town Community Market, founded in 1978, is held on the second Saturday of each month from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, with a possible 12:30 pm closure on exceptionally hot days. Entry is free, though a gold coin donation to the local organisation of the month is welcomed. The market features over 250 stall holders offering fresh produce, baked goods, arts, crafts, jewellery, wine and beer tastings, plants, tools, and furniture, alongside live music, hot food, and coffee.
This market supports local groups and focuses on sustainable living principles, encouraging visitors to bring their own bags, coffee mugs, and water bottles. It is a Smoke-Free Zone and dogs are not permitted, with the exception of Service Dogs. The market implements a 4-bin rubbish and recycle system, including a bin for cans and bottles where the 10c refund is donated to the Violet Town Community House. There is no ATM on site, but two are available in town, and cash is recommended as not all stalls have EFTPOS.
