About
The Community Grocer is a not-for-profit social enterprise working to improve local food systems in low-income communities since 2014. They run fresh food markets across Melbourne with a vision to foster thriving, healthy communities connected by fresh, fair, and accessible food. They create spaces for people from all backgrounds to connect, socialise, and support one another.
The Community Grocer operates six markets throughout Melbourne, serving over 400 households every week. 70% of their customers are unemployed or living on a low income, 84% have increased their fruit and vegetable consumption, and 93% feel more connected to the community.
Fresh food boxes are available for purchase and pick up from their markets. They offer opportunities for volunteering, which can help individuals gain valuable skills.
The Community Grocer acknowledges the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands they operate on. They commit 1% of their trading profit to Pay the Rent to local Aboriginal organisations.
Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible in Australia, as they are endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient.
