About
Rusty's Market is an established Cairns tourist icon and one of the most successful and well-known markets in Australia and abroad. It began in 1975 with only half-a-dozen stalls and has grown into a bustling three-day event, open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Located in the Cairns CBD between Grafton and Sheridan Streets, it is renowned for its carnival atmosphere and colourful stallholders.
The market boasts over 180 stalls featuring exotic fruit, vegetables, and flowers, along with delicatessens offering fresh breads, dairy, and seafood. It also hosts international food and beverage stalls and an abundance of bric-a-brac and specialty products including clothing, jewellery, coffee, and chocolate. The market is named after its developer, Emrys 'Rusty' Rees, and is now owned by Gilligan's Backpacker Hotel & Resort. Rusty's proudly supports REAP/OZHARVEST for food rescue and preventing hunger in Far North Queensland.
