About
The Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning (HIRL) is a unique venue that aims to enhance the natural environment and support the arts. It is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers. The institute offers function facilities for events including weddings, parties, workshops, seminars, meetings and funerals.
HIRL hosts a Farmer's Market featuring locally grown and made produce, plants and craft goods. It also provides creative spaces such as pottery classes and the Mud Gallery. Visitors can explore eco spaces including a children's adventure garden, Indigenous garden, wildlife dam, sensory garden and food garden. There is an active project dedicated to preserving the habitat of the endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot. The grounds feature wetlands, a frog melody, walking areas and kids play spaces.
