Whispering Pines Organics is a family business run by wheat farmers Betina and Robert Walker. The business started after the Walkers faced drought and depression, leading them to value-add their wheat by milling it on-site. They faced difficulties securing a bank loan for the venture, which had an initial cost of about a quarter of a million dollars.

In a few years, production has grown from 3 tonnes a year to 250 tonnes, and they have expanded from a small mill to a two-story mill on their property. The business became profitable for the first time in the current year. Selling online has contributed significantly to their income, providing national exposure, though they face challenges with slow satellite internet.

The business is a 2021 Delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards State Winner. Betina Walker was a Runner Up Winner in the 'Women in Business' category of the Australian Women's Weekly Magazine in 2015, and the business was nominated for the 'Weekly Times Newspaper Farmer of the Year' Competition in 2013. They have been featured on SBS television and Betina was a guest speaker at the Rural Women's gathering in 2017. They offer a range of flours, bran, oats and grain via online shop and deliver Australia-wide.
