About
Westgate Biodiversity operates Bili Nursery, a small not-for-profit nursery located at 525 Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne. The organisation focuses on bringing biodiversity to the Melbourne region by selling indigenous plants. Its work supports the transformation of the nearby Westgate Park, a 40-hectare site where one third of the area has been planted with indigenous species over three decades to create a bushland setting for locally indigenous plants and animals.
The park now supports a diverse range of wildlife, including many bird species, as the indigenous vegetation provides shelter and food. Westgate Biodiversity offers opportunities for volunteering and notes that Westgate Park is a good location for studying nature and citizen science projects. The Bili Nursery retail section is closed over summer.
