About
The Warrnambool Community Garden is a welcoming space for learning, growing, and sharing gardening knowledge in a supportive environment. It promotes organic gardening, sustainable living, and community connections through activities like growing food, hosting workshops and events, and running a Sprouts Club for children. The garden features communal areas, a herb patch, chooks, compost systems, and a quarry.
The garden hosts a weekly market every Wednesday afternoon for locally grown, fresh produce. It won a Premier's Sustainability Award for converting an abandoned quarry into a sustainable grassed amphitheatre. Tours of the large site are available, covering its history and the Miura Friendship Garden. The garden acknowledges the Peek Whurrong People of the Maar Nation as the original custodians of the land and adjoins a significant place, working in a spirit of reconciliation.
Memberships are available for individuals, families, and organisations, allowing participation in activities and access to plots. Visitors are welcome anytime the gate is open at the corner of Derby and Grieve Street in Warrnambool.
