The Grain Family is a small-scale certified organic family farm located on unceded tommeginne country in lutruwita / Tasmania. Established in June 2016, the farm is run by Gareth, Tonia and Ida. Gareth is the hands-on farmer, while Tonia grew up on her parents' dairy farm, Elgaar, and brings organic farming experience. They grow a range of grains, pulses and seeds, adopting a 'double cropping system' suited to the local heavy soils, dry summers and wet winters. All added fertility for their crops comes from grazing animal manure.

They mill flour freshly to order in small batches every week. Their products are available via their online shop with delivery, and they also sell at the Harvest Market in Launceston on Saturdays and the Farm Gate Market in Hobart on Sundays. The family pays their respects to the palawa/pakana people as the first farmers and caretakers of lutruwita.
