About
The Tasmanian Honey Company was established in 1978 by Julian Wolfhagen, who grew up living off the land in central Tasmania. The company sources its honey from the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It manages all of its own beehives, ensuring bees collect nectar from areas free of unpleasant agricultural and industrial activities. The honey is wild, sourced from a pristine environment, and packaged with minimal handling.
The company produces Leatherwood Honey, known for its spicy and piquant aroma and flavour. Manuka honey, derived from the Manuka or Tea Tree plant, is also offered. Both Leatherwood and Manuka honey are recognised for their antimicrobial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. The extracting and packing temperature never exceeds 45 degrees Celsius to preserve flavour and health benefits. The Tasmanian Honey Company has perfected creating feathery, candied honey, which assures the product has not been diluted or overheated. Their honey contains no additives. The company is B-Qual and HACCP certified. A farm gate and online shop are available, with delivery services offered, though postal services to the USA are temporarily suspended.
