About
Tamworth Kootingal Horse Riding Adventures, or TKHRA as the locals call it, is a fair dinkum Aussie outback experience set on "Swamp Oak" Station. This 1,400-acre working cattle station, just 27km east of Tamworth, offers visitors a real taste of rural life. They're open seven days a week all year round, so you can drop in pretty much anytime. You can get amongst it with two-hour trail rides or, for the little tackers, there are pony rides. They also do these ripper station tours that dig into the history of the Mulla Creek and Cockburn Ranges. Imagine, this Mulla Creek Road was once the main drag between Brisbane and Sydney during the 1850s gold rush. There were even three registered mines on "Swamp Oak" Station back then, though two have been bulldozed since. It's a cracking opportunity for families and anyone keen to connect with rural Australia, learn a bit of history, and see what goes on day-to-day on a working farm. They even cater for team building and corporate days if you're looking for something a bit different for your crew.
