Tamar Valley Walnuts

Tamar Valley Walnuts operates a 10-hectare orchard in the heart of the Tamar Valley, planted more than 20 years ago. The 4500 walnut trees are lovingly maintained and benefit from the cool climate, abundant rainfall, and rich earth, producing a bountiful crop of sweet, fresh walnuts. The orchard's location at 41 degrees latitude and 177 metres above sea level allows for slow and gentle ripening, resulting in high-quality nuts.

The crop matures slowly throughout the year, flowering in spring and forming a fleshy green drupe that protects the walnut within. Harvest occurs in late March to early April and is a gradual process conducted by skilled operators over several weeks. Walnuts from Tamar Valley contain the highest amount of plant-based omega-3 essential fatty acid and have higher antioxidant activity compared to other common nuts, with studies suggesting they may help reduce the risk of heart disease, lower cholesterol, and lower blood pressure.
