About
Southampton Homestead is a 120-acre small family farm owned by Jeff Pow and Michelle McManus, producing pasture-raised chickens and ducks in Balingup, Western Australia. The farm operates with regenerative practices, raising birds outside on fresh, biodiverse pasture and harvesting them by hand in a custom-built micro-abattoir. It became Western Australia's first regenerative, truly pasture-raised poultry enterprise and was recognised with a 2016 Landcare Award for Innovation in Sustainable Farm Practices. The property has been restored twice, from a pine plantation in 2008 and again after a 2013 bushfire.
The farm offers budget chalet accommodation with a private ensuite, well-suited to hikers, campers, kayakers and mountain bikers, given its location on the Blackwood River and along the Bibbulmun Track. The farm does not offer private tours to guests. Produce is available via an online shop with delivery to local areas and Perth by arrangement.
