About
Down in South Australia's Clare Valley, you'll find Skillogalee, a family-owned spot that's been doing its thing since these vineyards were first planted way back in 1970. They've got a historic stone cottage, built in 1851, that's been welcoming folks for over thirty years now. You can pop in for a wine tasting and some regional tucker. The restaurant does lunch from Thursday to Sunday, starting at midday, and dinner on Saturday evenings from 6:30 pm. Their cellar door for tastings and small plates is open every day from 10 am to 4 pm. Skillogalee sits on the elevated slopes of Spring Gully, with vineyards that follow the natural lie of the land, steep, stony hillsides and all. These conditions, along with the ancient soils and surrounding conservation park, help them craft wines that really show off where they're from. They're big on handcrafted winemaking here, creating celebrated Clare Valley wines and single-vineyard expressions. You'll find their Estate Riesling, Trevarrick Riesling, Estate Shiraz, and Trevarrick Cabernet. If you fancy sticking around, Skillogalee has boutique accommodation too, so you can really soak up the landscape that makes this place so special. It's truly a working vineyard experience.
