Picnic Point Farm is right on the banks of the Mitchell River in West Bairnsdale, East Gippsland. They're an apple orchard first and foremost, but you'll find heaps more than just apples when you pop into their Farm Shed on Drevermann Street. Picking up some fresh apples is a given, but depending on the season, you might also grab some cherries, sweet raspberries, tasty asparagus, or even some rhubarb. It's a real farm-gate experience, where you can see where your food comes from and have a chat with the folks who grow it. If you can't make it out to the farm, that's alright, you can still get their produce. They run an online shop that offers local delivery, which is super handy, and they also deliver to regional and metro areas. So, even if you're a fair way from Bairnsdale, you can still get a taste of East Gippsland delivered right to your door. It's a great way to support local agriculture and enjoy some really fresh, seasonal produce.
