About
Payne's Orchards is a genuine small family orchard in Bacchus Marsh. The orchard began in the Fifties when the Payne family moved 300 apple trees from East Burwood using manual hand tools and a classic Bedford truck. Initially run by Mum and Dad, it is now operated by Graeme, Jenny and their family, who cultivate a range of boutique summer fruits alongside classic apples.
The orchard is renowned for its natural approach, offering fruit grown without chemicals. It operates a pick-your-own system where entry requires pre-booking for 40-minute sessions starting hourly. Entry costs $5 per person aged 12 and over, and $2 for children aged 3-11. Visitors pay for the fruit they pick by the kilogram, with buckets supplied. Eating in the orchards is not permitted and visitors are advised to dress appropriately for a farm environment. The orchard also offers tours of the working property.
