About
Old Orchard Farm is a small-scale sustainable market garden and farmstay in Port Huon, Huon Valley, started by Alex and Christie who moved to Tasmania in December 2019. The farm grows approximately 50 different vegetables year-round across a 1600m2 market garden with 60 permanent outdoor beds and five polytunnels, using organic, regenerative and spray-free principles to improve soil and biodiversity.
They offer seasonal veggie box subscriptions for local delivery and sell vegetables at the Saturday morning pop-up pantry at Harvest and Light in Geeveston, which opens at 9am. The farm also has a self-contained cabin for farmstay guests, who are provided with breakfast and salad ingredients from the garden and offered a garden tour. The property previously had an apple orchard, which was turned into pasture in the 1970s, and the farm is gradually adding more fruit and nut trees.
