About
Down Maffra-Sale Road, you'll find Myrtlebank Roaming Farms, a cracking spot locals call 'The Chook House' because of the big metal chicken out front. It's a self-serve farm shop that's open every day of the year, from early morning to evening, so you can always drop in. They've got heaps of farm-fresh goodies, like eggs from their free-range chooks and grass-fed Black Angus beef. Shoppers have said lovely things about their quality meats, with one fella even raving about the garlic in their chicken kiev. Beyond the farm's own produce, they've got a whole kitchen whipping up fresh meals and baked treats. Think pies, tarts, and sweets that sound good enough to make you drool, according to reviews. You can grab ready-to-eat meals, with some folks particularly loving the pizza and cheesecake, though one customer found the mac and cheese a bit bland. They do produce boxes too, and you can order online for local delivery if you can't make it out to Gippsland. It's all run on an honesty system with EFTPOS, which makes grabbing a few bits easy as. They grow their own veggies and fruit when they can, and sell pantry items as well. It's truly a Gippsland gem. You'll find it all packed into two small self-serve huts with fridges and freezers.
