Mungalli Creek Bio-Dynamic Dairy has been farming biodynamically for over 30 years, focusing on the farm as a living ecosystem and enhancing soil fertility. The operation uses no artificial fertilisers, pesticides, antibiotics or growth hormones. The farm has planted rainforest, created wetlands, and allowed 30% of the land to revert to forest, cultivating a living farm organism that is home to wallabies, cassowaries, diverse bird populations, and dingoes.
The Mungalli Biodynamic Cafe is the original farmhouse where the Watson brothers grew up, situated in the heart of the farm. Its verandah overlooks the Johnston River Gorge and world heritage rainforest, with Mt Bartle Frere in the background. Viewing windows in the cafe allow guests to see into the production area. The cafe is open Thursday to Sunday.
The business has a responsibility to leave the land better than before for future generations. It pays its farmers a fair wage for their milk, actively supports community initiatives, and provides clean and healthy food to sustain the health of its customers. Many of its products are lactose-free.
