About
Melville Park is a historic farm on the banks of the Brunswick River, co-custodied by David Doepel and Barbara Connell. The farm has rehabilitated its disused dairy into an artisanal cheese factory, using milk solely sourced from a local family dairy, and has re-established a market garden focusing on heirloom fruits and vegetables using agro-ecological principles. A raised bed herb garden and asparagus garden have also been built.
The farm shop is located in the historic stables, approximately 700 metres down the driveway from the SouthWestern Highway entrance. The stables will also serve as the barrel ageing room for a new distillery producing Calvados-style apple brandy, whiskey, and liqueurs. The Farm Shop is open every Saturday morning, selling farm-made cheeses and fresh produce. Melville Park received five medals at the 2025 Royal Food Awards in Western Australia, including a Gold Medal for its Caerphilly cheese. The farm also hosts private events and tours.
