About
McDonald Honey is a family-owned beekeeping business that has been operating since 1885 and has been part of the Castlemaine community for six generations. They manage over 2,000 beehives, moving them throughout Victoria to follow the flowering of various honey varieties. All honey is extracted, processed, and packaged on their small farm in Castlemaine using a simple, natural process combined with a modern HACCP Quality Assurance program.
They offer native, single-origin honey varieties for small and medium-sized sales, which can be found in many stores in Castlemaine and surrounding towns under the 'Castlemaine Honey' label. Larger volumes of honey and beeswax can be supplied directly. The farm operates a farm shop for sales, though it may close temporarily to check on the bees. Appointments are needed for orders of 15kg or more. A self-serve 'Honey Shack' for small sales of Castlemaine Honey is also located at 5 Melissa Court, McKenzie Hill.
