ITO EN Australia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's largest green tea manufacturer. The Victorian Government invited the parent company to start growing Japanese green tea in Australia in 1993. Since October 2018, its flagship Oi Ocha Green Tea has been made with 100% Australian grown green tea.

In 2019, preparation began for a refining and tea bagging facility in Wangaratta, North East Victoria, with construction starting later that year. The first processing line was operational by March 2020. This facility completed a vertically integrated production system from leaf to final product, representing ITO EN's first such production line outside of Japan. The company oversees this 'Paddock to Cup' process. Seasonal products include Shincha, the first tea of the season, and ceremonial grade Japanese Organic Matcha. Products are available through an online shop with delivery, and at major retailers.
