About
Honest Eggs Co. operates a regenerative egg farm, moving chicken sheds to fresh pasture weekly to allow birds to forage on a natural diet of worms and insects. The farm maintains a low stocking density of 30 chickens per hectare. Chicken manure from this practice feeds the soil's microbiome, regenerating the land and increasing its water holding capacity and crop yield. This method produces eggs with 9 to 17% more essential amino acids than average eggs, and approximately 70% of their eggs are 800g or larger, exceeding the free-range average. The company invented FitChix, a step counter for chickens, and this campaign received multiple awards at the Cannes Lions advertising awards. Honest Eggs Co. was co-founded by Ian Garsed and Paul Righetti, who started the farm in 2016, and now includes seven farming families from Victoria and one in South Australia.
The farm emphasises soil health and considers itself first and foremost soil farmers. Their chickens and cows work together in a regenerative cycle, with chickens fertilising pastures that cows then graze. Their mission is to change egg farming for the better, benefiting the chickens, the land, and consumers.
