Hillwood Berries is a proper Tasmanian institution, a second-generation family farm up in Hillwood with a great spot for growing berries. They've got a pick-your-own setup at 105 Hillwood Road, which is always a good laugh, whether you're with mates or the whole family. There's nothing quite like pulling a berry straight off the bush and eating it on the spot, really. The cafe there is a sweet little bonus too, serving up all sorts of berry-themed treats and coffee, perfect for a break after you’ve filled your punnets. It’s free to entry the farmgate cafe, so you can pop in for a coffee and cake even if you’re not picking. They’re super proud of their berries grown in that ideal climate. If you’re ever in the northern Tassie region, it’s worth dropping by for some of the freshest berries you’ll find.
