About
Green Connect Farm is an 11-acre urban farm located in the Illawarra region. The farm operates using permaculture and organic principles to produce fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey, and free-range meat. Its aims include growing fair food, assisting individuals experiencing barriers to employment, and engaging with the community. The farm creates jobs for young people and refugees, providing 177 employment opportunities last year. It operates as a sustainable business, with over 80% of its expenses covered by income from trade.
Last year, Green Connect grew and distributed 36,816 kg of fair food and prevented 143 tonnes of waste from going to landfill. The farm offers fruit and vegetable boxes, which can be ordered weekly or fortnightly, with veg boxes starting from $36 per week. These are available for pick-up or home delivery. Green Connect Farm also provides various activities, including Farm Kindy and Farm Picnic Days. The farm acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Dharawal Country.
From March 31, 2025, Green Connect Farm will transition to become an independent entity. It was previously part of the national not-for-profit organisation Community Resources.
