About
Grand Ridge Organics is run by Rosemary Cousin and Richard Nankin. Their farm is located on 10.5 acres adjoining the Upper Tarwin River in the Strzelecki Ranges, and they manage an additional 9.5 acres under an agricultural license. In 1995, their river frontage was the first place in Australia under LandCare to be cleared of willow trees and revegetated with native species, providing a wildlife corridor. Their property was the starting point for a 'Hills To The Sea' revegetation project on the Tarwin River.
They are Certified Organic producers with the National Association of Sustainable Agriculture. The farm grows certified organic fruit and nut trees, vegetables, garlic, chillies, tomatoes and flowers. They hand make a range of jams, marmalades, pickles and preserves using their own produce, and raise pure bred Australorp and Light Sussex chickens for free range eggs. Their aim is to give back to the earth more than they take, believing healthy ecosystems have abundant life and that all life forms deserve a good quality of life.
