CQ Organics

CQ Organics operates the Bindaree property, a 1400-hectare certified organic beef farm on the Fitzroy River floodplains in Central Queensland, 42km from Rockhampton. The family-based operation is run by Mick and Noela Alexander, with their sons assisting, and began its conversion to organic practices in 2013.

Mick Alexander, an agricultural consultant, has applied specialist knowledge to transform the property. Their practices include planned grazing, no poisons, reticulated water, and improving carbon levels. They raise a composite breed of Braford-droughtmaster females and Santa-Angus sires, focusing on animal health to allow the cattle to thrive without drenches and dips.

The farm's main goals are to use healthy livestock to improve soil health, sequester carbon, improve plant health, and reduce the impact of climatic cycles. The family's motivation includes creating a safe environment for their children and supplying healthy, clean food to the local community.
