About
You'll find Byrne Farm just ten minutes out of Orange, up in Nashdale. It's a cracking spot for cool climate wines, with 40 acres sitting pretty on the northern slope of Mt Canobolas. That's an old volcano, by the way, and the rich chocolate-red soil it left behind at 900 metres elevation is just the ticket for growing top-notch Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Jeff Byrne, the fellow behind it all, is pretty chuffed with the wines they're making, and you can tell he loves the farm. They planted the first Pinot Noir vines back in 2020, with a fair bit of help from friends and family. There are a few different clones in there too, like 777 and 115, all spaced out just right. You can pop by their cellar door for a tasting, or if you can't make it in person, they also sell their wines online. They've got a limited release 2024 Shiraz Pinot, a single barrel 2024 Chardonnay, and earlier vintages like the 2021 Shiraz/Pinot and the 2023 Pinot Noir. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Orange region.
