About
Buena Vista Farm in Buena Vista, NSW, is a cracking spot for anyone keen on getting hands-on with sustainable farming and whole foods. They run all sorts of on-farm classes, like "From Scratch Too", which covers a bit of everything, "The Sourdough Masterclass" for bread lovers, and even workshops on cheesemaking, fermenting, and how to get the best out of your coffee beans with "From Bean to Barista". You can learn heaps and pick up some great skills for your own kitchen. They’re really passionate about local food systems and making sure what we eat is nutrient-dense and handmade.
Beyond the workshops, Buena Vista Farm has put out their own cookbook. It’s more than just recipes, it’s a peek into life on their small family farm, with plenty of stories about the minor fiascos along the way. The book’s got over 200 recipes, including their famous whole egg custard, bacon jam, and chicken liver pate. If you’ve ever done a class there, you might find the recipe for a cake or biscuit you loved. You can grab a signed copy directly from them, or find it in most good bookshops, published by Hardie Grant. It’s a proper good read and will give you plenty of delicious things to whip up in your own home.
