About
Bowral Honey Farm offers tours, immersive experiences, and workshops for all ages and abilities. Their main apiary and honey shop are located at Retford Park, a National Trust property in Bowral. The head teacher and founder, Hamish Ta-mé, started his beekeeping journey as a teenager and holds formal qualifications in both beekeeping and teaching.
Visitors can choose from various experiences, including a 1-hour tour with hive visits, honey tasting, and morning tea, starting from $38. The 'Hive to Table: Hands-On Honey Harvest Experience' runs for 2 hours, from $85. Another option allows visitors to open a hive in a bee suit, with honey tasting and morning tea, for $140 over 2 hours. The honey shop is open every weekend, and tours are available every Saturday at 11 am at the Retford Park location, with extra sessions on long weekends.
Bowral Honey Farm also caters to privately booked groups, including corporate events, social groups, and home-school groups. They occasionally run mead making workshops. The farm operates three teaching sites across the Southern Highlands, with an apiary at Peppers Manor House in Sutton Forest used for very large booked groups.
