Blue Boat Farm

Blue Boat Farm is an urban family farm located on Worimi Country in Medowie, 20 minutes north of Newcastle. The family moved to the acre property 11 years ago and began growing food more intensively without chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides, initially motivated by a daughter's health issues. The operation has expanded from a small plot to almost half an acre of food growing.

The farm incorporates organic, biodynamic, and permaculture styles, demonstrating techniques such as raised beds, market garden beds, polyhouse tunnels, swales, hugel kulture, and intercropping. Its practices and layout continuously evolve to adapt to climate change and new learning. Blue Boat Farm offers education, resources, and tools to the community, supports local schools with garden programs, and provides volunteer opportunities through the WWOOF program. Products such as seeds and amendments are available via farm gate, online shop, and delivery.
