About
Bit of a Bilpin icon, you'll find Bilpin Fruit Bowl on Bells Line of Road. It's run by Simon and Margaret Tadrosse, who've owned the place since '85. Their kids grew up in the business, and now they all pitch in, even the grandkids. It's a real family affair, and you can tell they pour a lot of love into it.
They've got a farm shop that's open seven days a week, and it's full of good stuff. You can grab local honey, homemade jams, and ciders from other local spots. Their own kitchen bakes up famous apple pies, meat pies, cakes, and slices. In summer, they even do peach pies using their own fruit. They'll whip up pies with cherries, blueberries, mangoes, apricots, and raspberries when those are in season too. And if you're keen for something cold, they've got soft-serve ice cream made with their fresh strawberries.
Out in the fields, you can pick your own strawberries all year round in their covered hothouses, so it's a good all-weather activity. They've put in nearly 100,000 strawberry plants! From late November to late June, you can also pick heaps of other seasonal fruits and veggies. They grow things like zucchini, squash, cucumbers, eggplants, broccoli, chillies, and capsicums without chemicals too. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates on what's ripe for picking.
