Bass River Winery is a pioneering winery and vineyard in South Gippsland, located a 90-minute drive from Melbourne towards Phillip Island. The Butera family produces small quantities of premium wine from their estate vineyard, which is bordered by the Bass River and the Strzelecki Ranges. The vineyards experience cool conditions assisted by nearby maritime elements, and the winemakers, Pasquale and Frank Butera, emphasise expressing terroir and sustainable viticultural principles.
The winery has won consecutive trophies for its 1835 Sparkling Brut, which was awarded Best Sparkling Wine at the Gippsland Wine Show 2025. The cellar door is open every day except Wednesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm or by appointment. Bass River Winery offers an online shop and delivery, with free shipping on orders over $300 and a minimum spend of $120 for online orders. Customers can also join a wine club for regular deliveries of award-winning wine at discounted rates.
